Welcome! I am running for the DFL Minnesota House of Representatives because I believe, along with many others, that the people of District 31A deserve a Representative who will listen to their needs and fight effectively for working families at the Capitol. Minnesota’s current financial problems did not happen over night. Over the past several years, the state has been shifting its responsibilities to local governments.
I’m sure you ask, as a fellow DFLer, why I have decided to challenge DFL incumbent Representative Gene Pelowski. In short, I believe he has failed to listen to and represent his constituents in key decisions he has made over the past several years.
I don’t take challenging an incumbent lightly. But I also think it’s vital that our Representative actually represent our core values.
- I reject a politics that seeks to balance the state budget on the backs of working people.
- I reject a politics that cuts vital state funding to our local communities, resulting directly in property tax increases and cuts to education, health care and environmental protection.
- I reject a politics that is driven by fear, deception, and intimidation.
Instead, I am running to bring the kind of politics that will:
- bring an honest and open mind to representing you, and an ability to disagree without being disagreeable. I will listen to your concerns and work hard at the Capitol to represent our district.
- bring to St. Paul the values of hard work and compassion, ensuring that everyone in our community can succeed by strengthening our cities, creating living wage jobs, protecting and expanding our health care, advocating quality education and business collaborations, supporting small business, environmental and energy sustainability, and fighting for local communities.
It is time we elected a new Representative who can bring together a passion for public service, a positive vision, and an openness to new ideas and input from the people in our district. The people of Winona and Houston Counties deserve nothing less.
